Former TSMC Europe President, Corporate Director of CEVA, IQE, KD and Sequans Communications
María Marced is a distinguished Spanish telecommunications engineer and executive leader in the microelectronics industry. Born in Valencia, she holds both a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
María’s professional career spans several major technology companies. She worked for 19 years at Intel, where she rose to the position of Vice President and General Manager for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. In 2003, she joined Philips Semiconductors, later NXP, as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the connected multimedia solutions business unit, eventually leading the sales and marketing department. From 2007 until December 2023, she served as President of TSMC Europe, playing a pivotal role in establishing TSMC’s European fabrication plant.
Currently, María serves on the boards of directors of CEVA, IQE, KD, and Sequans Communications, and is the Chair of the GSA EMEA Leadership Council. Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including the Global Industry Leader Award in 2024 at ChipEx (Israel), recognition by The Wall Street Journal in 2002 as one of the three most powerful businesswomen in Europe, and being named an ambassador for the city of Valencia, alongside receiving the VLC Chipcity Award in 2024. She is also a member of Spain’s PERTE CHIP Strategic Expert Group, where she contributes to the national semiconductor strategy.
