Gaspar Mora

CTO for OpenChip

Gaspar Mora Porta is currently serving as CTO for Openchip in Barcelona, a chip design hub in Europe delivering top HPC, AI, and general computing solutions based on RISC-V and vector architectures.

Gaspar Mora Porta is a distinguished professional in the field of computer architecture and interconnection networks, with over 16 years of experience in California working at Intel and Nvidia. At Intel, he started researching on architectures for networks-on-chip (NoC) to later transition to become one of the architects behind the Intel Omni-Path high-performance network architecture, contributing to its development and successful deployments in several HPC systems. In 2020, Gaspar joined Nvidia as a senior architect and played an important role in architecting the GPU memory system, advancing the company’s capabilities in AI and graphics processing. In addition to his technical leadership, he holds more than 15 patents in areas such as adaptive routing, load balancing, and high-radix switch architectures, reflecting his deep expertise in interconnection networks and computer architecture.

On the academic side, Gaspar got his PhD on Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Valencia and has published several papers, mainly about HPC interconnection networks and switch architectures. He also holds a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Valencia, and got his advanced degree (DEA) in Mathematics in the Doctorate Program of the University of Alicante. While pursuing his PhD, Gaspar did long academic stays at Stanford University (California) and at Heidelberg University (Germany)
