The objectives of Chipnation 2024 include setting the guidelines for investing in the sector at a key moment both at the European and Spanish levels
Valencia will become the epicenter of the semiconductor industry on December 2nd and 3rd with the arrival of the second edition of Chipnation, the leading national congress in the microchip sector, which will take place at the CaixaForum Valencia facilities.
This year’s event aims to establish a clear roadmap for investment by companies and public administrations at a key moment for the sector at the continental level, according to a statement issued by the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) in collaboration with VASIC (Valencia Silicon Cluster).
The congress will also be supported by the Valencia City Council and the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), and will bring together top experts from the tech sector to address the major challenges facing semiconductor development.
We are delighted to come to Valencia, a city that is positioning itself as a hub for semiconductor innovation in Europe,” said Alfonso Gabarrón, manager of AESEMI. Together with the Valencia Silicon Cluster, the association will help strengthen the city’s international image as a strategic location for the microchip industry, as highlighted by Maria Teresa Bacete, president of the Valencian cluster.
Meanwhile, Paula Llobet, Valencia’s Councillor for Innovation, emphasized the impact that an event of this magnitude can have in showcasing “the city’s appeal to the microchip and semiconductor industry.” She also stressed the importance of Valencia being home to the International Semiconductor Campus.
This year’s theme will be “European Chips Act & PERTE CHIP: The moment of truth,” as the congress will address key topics such as the European and Spanish semiconductor strategies to strengthen the supply chain, the development of the PERTE Chip initiative, and the presentation of major driving projects in Spain—at a decisive moment for the industry, coinciding with the start of the new European Commission’s term and the final phases of PERTE Chip implementation.
The event will also host the first meeting of the 17 new microelectronics and semiconductor university chairs established in Spain in early 2023. The goal of this meeting is to build a structured national vision for education and talent development. Additionally, the congress will feature the celebration of the “First Valencian Night of Semiconductors,” a unique space to connect with the sector, and especially with the Valencian ecosystem, one of the spearheads of the industry in Spain.
