Director of Innovation in the Health Division at the Institute of Biomechanics
Carlos Atienza holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (2000). Dr. Atienza served as a researcher in the Surgical Implants and Instruments Section of the Institute of Biomechanics (IBV) from 1994 until 2002, when he became Director of the Healthcare Technology Division at the IBV. Since joining the IBV, he has carried out 88 projects with national and international companies and has participated in over 56 R&D projects funded through public calls for proposals, serving as principal investigator on 22 of them. As a result of his significant involvement in projects with companies, he holds one utility model and six patents.
Furthermore, since the start of his work at the IBV, he has carried out significant scientific work, having supervised four doctoral theses, contributed to the writing of six books, and published four articles in high-impact journals and another 91 articles in prestigious national journals. Finally, he has presented at 76 conferences and symposia.
Since 2016, he has been a professor in the undergraduate and master’s programs in Biomedical Engineering at the UPV.
